Introduction

Get the right car for you while saving time and money

Guide Purpose

Car buying can be stressful and confusing, and can leave you feeling like you just went a few rounds with a glitter-bombing salesperson. But don't worry! This guide is here to help. It's like a jumpstart for your car buying journey, so you can get a good deal without the hassle. This guide is like your car-buying BFF. Forget your uncle's outdated advice (carbs aren't bread!), we'll explain everything in plain English. No more shady dealer tricks, we'll show you how to avoid them all. By the end, you'll be a condent car buyer, ready to make the deal and drive off happy! Whether you're a car newbie whose mechanical knowledge extends to knowing the difference between the gas and brake pedals or a seasoned gearhead who can rebuild an engine blindfolded, this guide has something for you. We'll cover everything from deciphering cryptic features and dealer jargon to negotiating like a pro without resorting to tears or questionable dance moves.

Guide Usage

The guide is valuable for any level of buyer, from a newbie buying their first car to the seasoned professional who has the scars of many hard-fought deals. The goal is not to recommend car types or cars, but to help you decide what's best for you, leaving recommendations to the myriad experts and websites referenced in the guide. Just decide which chapter you want to jump in at:

  • Chapter 1 if you are not already 100% positive about your vehicle needs and wants.
  • Chapter 2 if you don't need chapter 1 and have any concerns about your budget, nancing options, buying vs. leasing, insurance, or repair and maintenance expenses.
  • Chapter 3 if you don't need chapters 1-2 but want to explore the pros and cons of new vs. used cars.
  • Chapter 4 if you don't need chapters 1-3 and are sure that you want a new car.
  • Chapter 5 if you don't need chapters 1-4 and are sure that you want a used car.
  • Chapter 6 if your ready to make a deal.
  • Chapter 7 if want to sell or trade-in a car.
  • Chapter 8 is a general reference and guide to the websites covered in the guide that will save a huge amount of time and get you to the right places.
  • The Appendices contain a variety of more detailed information on topics referenced in the body of the guide.
  • The Glossary contains denitions of many terms used throughout the guide.
